DermWorld Academy Insider: New course on skin cancer diagnosis
Aug. 27, 2024

The AAD recently developed a learning center course to teach members about the expanding molecular toolbox for skin cancer diagnosis. By taking the course, you’ll learn to identify new molecular testing tools to diagnose skin cancer and recognize the pros and cons of each to help you choose the best option for your patients.
In this brief exclusive DermWorld Academy Insider interview, Dirk Elston, MD, FAAD, who helped develop the course, discusses the course, its benefits, and why members should take it.
DermWorld: What is the new skin care diagnostics course, and why was it created?
Dr. Elston: It’s a practical review of new technologies available to help with melanoma diagnosis and prognosis. Experts in the field discuss which tests they find useful and in what settings.
DermWorld: What can members expect to learn?
Dr. Elston: Members can learn how experts are using these new tests and how to apply them in their practices.
DermWorld: Why is it important for members to take the course?
Dr. Elston: The field has advanced dramatically. We all need to keep up with these advances.
Other course faculty include Alina Bridges, DO, FAAD; Aaron S. Farberg, MD, FAAD; Laura Ferris, MD, PhD, FAAD; Pedram Gerami, MD, FAAD; M. Yadira Hurley, MD, FAAD; Christine Jaworsky, MD, FAAD; Rossitza Lazova, MD; Tricia Missall, MD, PhD, FAAD; and Allen Strickler, MD, PhD, MPH, FAAD. This activity is supported by an educational grant from Castle Biosciences.
