MIPS is comprised of four program categories, namely Quality, Promoting Interoperability (PI), Improvement Activities (IA), and Cost. The relative weights, objectives, and participation thresholds change each year, so participants should analyze program changes with each new program year. CMS usually publishes the next year's parameters in November of the preceding year.
