Academic Dermatology Leadership Program (mentee)
The Academic Dermatology Leadership Program (ADLP) is a comprehensive program that requires a full-year commitment.

The 2026 Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado, Sunday, March 29, from 2:45 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. MT
The 2026 Leadership Forum in Itasca, Illinois, from Friday, May 15 – Sunday, May 17 (Arrival on Thursday evening, May 14)
Program Fee: $250
Leadership Forum participants are required to pay a program fee of $250. The Academy covers the remaining costs for all sessions and workshops, travel, lodging, and on-site meals. This fee is non-refundable.
The 2026 Innovation Academy, New York, New York, Friday, July 17 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. ET
Develop a relationship with the mentor you have selected to assist, advise, and guide you throughout the year
Eligibility for mentees
Must be a member of the AAD in good standing
Must have completed at least three years in post-dermatology training
Must be devoting at least 75% of your professional time to academics and have a strong commitment to the field
Must be nine years or less since completing terminal residency or fellowship training
Must have completed residency training in dermatology or a fellowship in a dermatology subspecialty (dermatopathology)

Guidelines for maximizing your mentor relationships
Communication skills including:
Essential communication keys
Engaging openers
How to elicit audience participation
Conflict management and resolution
Key skills to be a successful negotiator
Coaching and counseling to enhance staff performance
Change management and how to be flexible and adaptable
Participate in sessions specifically designed to address the unique challenges and opportunities in academia
Understand your own leadership style and how to leverage your strengths
Learn how to enhance your personal influence to build effective relationships and work teams
Learn from an established mentor who shares your commitment to academia
Enjoy an invaluable peer-to-peer learning experience and networking opportunities
