Which way are the winds of dermatology blowing? AAD membership data may serve as a bellwether. In 2018, overall membership surpassed 20,000 dermatologists, but beyond hitting the 20K mark, other demographic changes regarding gender and practice type have emerged. Since 2015, the number of female dermatologists have exceeded their male counterparts, part of a broader cultural shift within medicine.
