When is this year’s AADA Legislative Conference and will the event be in person?

The 2022 AADA Legislative Conference will take place Sept. 18-20, at the Conrad Hotel, in Washington, D.C.
Do I need experience in health policy to attend?
No. Attendees do not need to be experts on health policy, the legislative process, or the members of Congress themselves. You are meeting with legislators as an expert in dermatology and patient care. At the conference, AADA leaders will be on hand to provide mentorship, background materials on your legislators, a copy of the AADA legislative priorities, and training to successfully advocate for the specialty.
What can I expect at the conference?
The program will contain policy-focused breakout sessions, designed to offer an in-depth understanding of how to translate the issues that affect the specialty into effective lobbying of your members of Congress on the final day of the conference. Breakout sessions will involve didactic discussions and hands-on training from a panel of health policy experts, AADA staff, and experienced member advocates.
On the final day of the conference, attendees will meet with their members of Congress with a small group of attendees from their home state. The AADA schedules all Capitol Hill meetings for attendees. We use your home and office addresses to determine who your members of Congress are and then contact their offices to schedule meetings for you. Before meeting with your members of Congress and their staffers, the AADA will provide you with specific information about legislative priorities, talking points, and other resources.
Which issues will the AADA be requesting support for?
This year, key priorities for discussion during congressional visits will include action to delay impending Medicare cuts, and legislation to address delays of treatment due to policies like step therapy and prior authorization.
