Asked and Answered
May 1, 2022
The Academy has recently launched an updated teledermatology toolkit for AAD members, including more in-depth information on:
Starting teledermatology
Workflow advice for small practices
How to prepare staff for offering teledermatology
Up-to-date coding and reimbursement information
Advice on how to choose the right telehealth vendor
Access the toolkit at staging.aad.org/telederm.
The Academy has also designed patient-facing teledermatology resources, including:
An overview of telemedicine
How to prepare for a telemedicine appointment
Telemedicine follow-up care advice
Direct patients to these resources at staging.aad.org/telemedicine.
The Academy’s new teledermatology guidance also includes the recently approved Teledermatology Standards. These standards were developed by the Academy’s Teledermatology Task Force at the direction of the Board of Directors, and expand upon the appropriate use of telemedicine by creating a core set of standards for the Academy to advocate for responsible telemedicine platform technology and telehealth reimbursement.
