Top ethical issues encountered by dermatologists

According to the Academy’s 2022 Ethics in Derm Practice Survey — which asked fellows and associates about the major ethical issues they face in practice — 23% of respondents indicated that inappropriate requests to have a cosmetic procedure billed as medical was the most common encounter. Inappropriate requests for refills and inappropriate requests to assess another family member during a patient’s visit were tied for second at 19%.
