DermWorld breaks down the latest highlights of AADA advocacy activities at the federal and state legislative and regulatory level.
As a part of our ongoing efforts to raise awareness about skin cancer prevention, the AADA met with Anabella Aspiras, associate director of Cancer Moonshot Engagement (pictured center below), to discuss how the Academy can collaborate with the White House on reducing the rates of skin cancer nationwide.
At the meeting, AADA staff spoke about our SPOT Skin Cancer™ prevention program. AADA staff shared our policy priorities and programs to prevent and treat skin cancer including:
The Latino Outreach Program seeks to bring awareness, education, and skin cancer screenings to an underserved population of Latino outdoor workers.
The Shade Structure Grant Program awards grants of up to $8,000 to public schools and non-profit organizations for installing permanent shade structures for outdoor locations that are not protected from the sun.
President Biden relaunched Cancer Moonshot with the goal of cutting cancer rates in half over the next 25 years and improving the lives of people at risk for cancer or living with cancer, and their families. The AADA will continue to engage with the White House on skin cancer prevention strategies and policies.
