Skin cancer incidence and related deaths projected to rise in 2024

The latest data from the American Cancer Society (ACS) are in — offering new insights into the impact of skin cancer on public health in the United States. Each year, the ACS estimates the number of new cancer diagnoses and deaths in the United States by compiling the most recent data on population-based cancer occurrence. This year, the ACS anticipates 2 million new cancer cases and 611,720 cancer deaths — an increase from 2023.
New cases of melanoma and non-epithelial skin cancer and related deaths are also projected to increase in 2024. Men remain vulnerable, accounting for 59% of all new cases and 66% of anticipated deaths due to skin cancer.
