Cautious enthusiasm — physicians remain split on augmented intelligence
Facts at your Fingertips

According to a new survey released by the American Medical Association (AMA), physician attitudes about augmented intelligence (AuI) may be at a critical tipping point. Last year, the AMA surveyed 1,081 practicing physicians about the increased use of AuI in medicine, finding there is both excitement and concern about its potential.
Two-thirds (65%) of physicians said AuI tools could be an asset to them, providing that certain key requirements are met. According to respondents, the top attributes required to advance physician adoption of AuI tools are data privacy assurances (87%) and not being held liable for AuI model errors (87%). Physicians also indicated that transparency is critical to their trust of AuI, with 80% calling for clear information about the design, development, and deployment of these tools.
