On June 5, the House Republican Doctors Caucus hosted a roundtable discussion with physician organizations on crafting long-term Medicare physician payment reform.

AADA President Susan Taylor, MD, FAAD, participated in the roundtable at the U.S. Capitol as the caucus considers their next steps after securing the building blocks of an inflation-based update for Medicare payment as part of H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The roundtable was led by Caucus Chairs John Joyce, MD, FAAD (R-PA) and Greg Murphy, MD (R-NC). Rep. Murphy stressed the need for physicians to continue to strongly advocate for further Medicare physician payment reform, including addressing the 2.83% cut for 2025.

Regulatory Affairs

AADA continues advocating on CLIA lab director requirements

The AADA, on behalf of all dermatologists, continues advocating for revisions to recent CLIA laboratory director requirements that would ensure that all board-certified dermatologists are appropriately approved as lab directors of dermatology labs. Because of this ongoing advocacy, CMS has committed to working directly with individual dermatologists to address any issues related to their CLIA applications.

Based on productive discussions with CMS, the AADA advises members to continue to apply as lab directors through the standard process.

AADA Members applying to be lab directors are encouraged to contact AADA at regulatory@aad.org to report any issues with the new requirements. The Academy will coordinate directly with CMS to assist in resolving any issues and to ensure your application receives appropriate review.
