Advocating for you — Preventing Medicare cuts

Persistence keeps Medicare cuts at bay
Medicare is front and center again as we build on last year’s win, successfully fending off physician payment cuts due to the Medicare sequester during the COVID-19 public health emergency. After the moratorium on the regular 2% Medicare payment cuts was extended through March 31, 2021, the public health emergency raged on, affecting all dermatologists.
As the Medicare sequester moratorium extension deadline approached, we jumped into action and advocated with congressional leadership to extend the hold on these cuts through the end of the public health emergency. More than 400 of you joined us in asking Congress for relief through grassroots efforts.
Thanks to your collective voice and the persistence of the AADA, President Biden signed legislation on April 13 that eliminates the 2% cut through the end of 2021, providing you with stability in Medicare reimbursement. This represents the achievement of one of the AADA’s key COVID-19 relief priorities.
The months ahead will continue to test our health care system, but we stand ready to help you meet the challenges and succeed in uncharted territory.
