While the future of American health insurance remains a question mark, data from the 2017 AAD Practice Profile Survey has helped shed light on where reimbursement trends might be headed. Although the percentage of patients with private fee-for-service coverage has remained relatively consistent since 2014, traditional Medicare has declined by 6%. More troublingly, survey data also indicate that 39% of treatment plans are being altered due to insurance — a sizeable 10% jump from 2014 that suggests an increasingly difficult relationship with insurance companies.
