What are AAD Expert Resource Groups (ERGs) and how can I get involved?
Asked and Answered
January 1, 2022
The Academy’s Expert Resource Groups (ERGs) are made up of individuals who come together to share information and knowledge about a particular topic, usually specific diseases or issues relevant to dermatology.
You do not need to be an expert on an ERG’s topic to join! The groups serve not only as a home for experts on a topic, but also a means to foster expertise among those who are not yet an expert.
Currently, the Academy has the following ERGs:
Atopic Dermatitis
Climate Change and Environmental Issues
Cutaneous Imaging
Dermatologists in Industry
Epidemiology
Geriatric Dermatology
Hidradenitis Suppurativa
Integrative Dermatology
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer / Gender and Sexual Minority (LGBTQ/SGM) Health
Quality and Patient Safety Officers (ERG – QPSO)
Psoriasis
Sexually Transmitted Diseases
Society of Dermatology Hospitalists
Women’s Health
Xeroderma Pigmentosum
While different activities and goals exist among the ERGs, a common passion for the advancement of patient care is at the core of their efforts. ERGs develop and promote high standards of clinical care for patients with skin disease by providing clinical expertise, fostering research, advocating for the therapeutic needs of dermatology, and furthering education in the management of cutaneous disease.
