DW Insights and Inquiries: The profound dermatological manifestations of COVID-19: Part IV — Cutaneous features
In Part I, I quoted a study from China detailing 1,099 patients with COVID-19 in which two patients (0.2%) had a “rash.” As I am writing this commentary, there have been 3,541,368 cases and 153,379 deaths worldwide. Patients warming to telehealth as an option for care
According to a recent survey of 2,000 U.S. adults, conducted by IT vendor Sykes, nearly 75% of Americans indicated their willingness to use telehealth to be remotely screened for COVID-19. About two-thirds of respondents said that the recent COVID-19 pandemic has increased their willingness to try virtual health care in general.
More than 9,000 health care workers infected with coronavirus
The CDC issued a report April 14 indicating that at least 9,282 health care workers in the U.S. have contracted COVID-19 in a two-month period, of which 27 cases were fatal. The CDC said that the estimates should be considered on the lower end since many cases have likely gone “unidentified or unreported.”

Academy encourages participation in new COVID-19 dermatology registry
The new COVID-19 dermatology registry is collecting information about the dermatologic manifestations of the COVID-19 virus. The survey is for all health care professionals worldwide (not just dermatologists) taking care of COVID-19 patients who develop dermatologic manifestations, or dermatology patients with an existing condition who then develop COVID-19 — and a positive COVID-19 test is not required to enter data. Participation takes only five minutes, and photos are not required.
