Read all about it: Dermatology's media impact
Facts at your Fingertips
By Emily Margosian, assistant editor, April 1, 2019
There’s nothing fake about this news: In 2018, the Academy generated nearly 9 billion media impressions in print and online. Despite the unpredictability of the current media landscape, the specialty’s public impact has remained stable with a slight uptick in coverage following last year’s decline. The most covered topics of the year did see a bit of a shake-up, however, with skin cancer and skin care accounting for 42% and 28% of coverage, respectively, ousting acne as 2017’s most-covered topic with 45% of that year’s dermatology-related media coverage.
As dermatology news and media coverage becomes increasingly digital, the AAD’s social media presence has kept pace. See the graphic below for a more detailed breakdown of the AAD’s social media growth in 2018.
