I recently received an insurance denial from a private payer. Does the Academy have any resources to help?

Yes! The AADA’s Private Payer Resource Center includes private payer policy updates and on-demand webinars on proper coding and claim submission as well as negotiating with payers to reduce the likelihood of future denials.
The AADA has also created a private payer appeal letter generator. This interactive tool can be used to generate letters from automated templates to assist dermatologists during the appeals process with a private payer when payments are inappropriately reduced. They may be modified to specifically address your circumstances and those of your patients.
Members may also report payer issues to the AADA by emailing privatepayer@aad.org or filling out our online form. AADA staff will review the reported issue. Most often, an issue is reviewed in tandem with coding staff and/or Patient Access and Payer Advocacy Committee members and, depending on the carrier, with the state dermatological society. A response is then provided back to the member. Many times, the reported issues help frame future discussions by the AADA with the national carriers.
