Top dermatologist concerns during COVID
Facts at your fingertips
By Emily Margosian, assistant editor, June 1, 2021
As the long-term impact of COVID-19 on schools, businesses, and the medical system has continued to unfold, dermatologists have grappled with high-pressure concerns ranging from staff safety to the overall financial stability of their practice. In May and October of 2020, the Academy surveyed dermatologists to capture their evolving experience during the pandemic. According to results from the AAD Dermatologist Experience Under COVID-19 Survey, lead concerns included the safety of office staff, the impact of revenue loss, and not becoming a carrier of the virus.
While lead concerns did not vary significantly between the fall and the spring, worries about financial fallout dipped in the fall as patients returned to in-person care, while fears of becoming infected rose. See the graphic below for more on the evolution of top dermatologist concerns during COVID-19.
