Taking care of dermatologists so that they can take care of their patients...and their practices
Dear members,
Before we begin, I just want to wish each and every one of you a very happy New Year. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season spending time with loved ones. Because my focus has been on helping dermatologists in your quest to help your patients, I’m focusing on tools the Academy has developed to help you on this journey. Now, let’s begin 2026 with a roundup of how we’re helping you do just that.
I’m excited to announce that this month, the AAD is launching a new extensive suite of content for younger dermatologists who are just starting off their careers. The first years after residency can be a very difficult time for new physicians. Over the past few years, the Academy has been working with young members to hear their suggestions about what is needed to thrive, and as a result has developed the Career Launch resources to address those concerns. Some of the topics include getting started in practice, building a referral base, negotiating an employment contract, managing staff, tackling personal and practice finances, addressing scope of practice concerns, managing administrative burdens, and more.
I’m so happy that the AAD can now provide younger members with the tools you need to succeed. Learn more about AAD Career Launch. New content will continue to be developed, and you will be notified when each new piece is available.
The AAD has one of the most extensive collections of practice management resources available. Whether it’s a tool to help you draft appeal letters for prior authorization denials, a comprehensive list of coding tips, a drug prices comparison tool, step-by-step guides to help you meet compliance requirements, a summary of scope of practice laws and advocacy, resources to help implement teledermatology in your practice, or AAD’s Data Derm™ — a clinical data registry that will transform your practice — the AAD has got you covered when it comes to practice management.

The key focus of my presidency has been helping dermatologists so that they can help their patients. The AAD’s vast collection of practice management resources is a major way the Academy can accomplish that. I encourage everyone to make use of the resources. I guarantee there’s something included that can make your day-to-day life easier!
Until next time, all my best,
Susan
