Office staff guide
This guide is meant for staff scheduling teledermatology visits. If the requirements below can’t be satisfied, consider offering an in-person visit.
Is teledermatology appropriate for the specific patient need?
Has the patient participated in teledermatology with your office before?
If yes, schedule the teledermatology visit and remind the patient to review the patient checklist and submit photos at least 24 hours in advance.
If no, proceed to next questions.
Does the patient have the necessary technology to participate in a virtual visit, such as a smartphone with 4G LTE or 5G and 3-4 bars of signal strength or a personal computer with high-speed internet access?
Does the patient have access to a private space for the live-interactive visit that is located in the state of the physician’s licensure during the visit?
Does the patient have additional needs, such as a language interpreter, closed captioning, presence of a family member or caretaker, and can these needs be met during the teledermatology visit?
