Educating the public – Videos of the month

And…action! AAD Videos of the Month reach the public wherever they are

Every month we debut a new Video of the Month on our YouTube channel to help subscribers/viewers manage skin, hair, and nail conditions at home — positioning dermatologists as the skin, hair, and nail experts and providing the public with reputable information wherever they are.

The Academy has been producing and issuing its Videos of the Month since June of 2012. The videos are also shared on our social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and with the media to draw attention to the expertise of dermatologists.

So far, we’ve published 110 Videos of the Month. Our videos show the public what you treat, what they should look for, and when they should see a board-certified dermatologist. In the second quarter of 2021, we tracked more than 1.3 million views to our Videos of the Month, including these top-viewed videos:

April-June 2021: 108,444 views


More than 110,000 people have subscribed to our YouTube channel. The majority of our YouTube viewers are female (50.3%) and are under the age of 45 (70%), and most viewers reside in the United States (26.3%).

We grew our subscribers by nearly 10,000 this quarter. Much is in store for them over the next few months as we debut new videos on topics that include:

• How to care for your baby’s hair, skin, and nails

• When to use (or not use) antibiotics on your skin
