Educating the public — The Academy is getting the word out on the dangers of skin cancer
We are creating sun-safe habits, one PSA at a time
The Academy launched the Practice Safe Sun public service advertising campaign in 2021 to educate the public about the importance of sun protection.
A series of three ads (Bed/Beach, Phone/Hike, and Yoga/Pool) presented sun protection as a simple, effective self-care practice that has lifelong health benefits. The ads targeted male and female outdoor enthusiasts ages 18-25, as young adults are still forming the habits and behaviors that they will take with them in the future.
From late May through early September, our PSAs were seen more than 50 million times via Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat. Audio versions of the PSAs were also distributed on Spotify.
