Social media ambassador team
The Academy’s Social Media Ambassador Team is comprised of board-certified dermatologists who are committed to sharing public education messages on social media. The team regularly collaborates with the Academy, and one another, to amplify the Academy’s public education and specialty positioning messages.
The Academy provides team members with:
Monthly social media toolkits including hashtags, messages, resources, and post ideas.
Engagement on selected posts that tag the Academy’s social media handles.
Opportunities to be featured as a collaborator in the content published to the Academy’s public-facing social media accounts.
Opportunities to participate in filming, social events, and other exclusive activities at Annual Meeting and Innovation Academy.
Opportunities to network and engage with other members of the Social Media Ambassador Team.
As a member of the team, social media ambassadors must:

Have a current disclosure on file with the AAD.
Use social media primarily for public education with at least 75% of posts educating the public about skin, hair, and nails or promoting the specialty of dermatology and the services dermatologists provide.
Have 3,000 followers or more on Instagram or TikTok.
Have an account that represents an individual Academy member (not a business or practice).
Agree to participate in collaborative posts with the AAD at least two times per year.
Agree to post on an Academy-provided topic at least twice per quarter.
Adhere to the standards for professionalism on social media as outlined in the Academy’s Social Media Position Statement, including refraining from personal attacks, bullying, offensive language, and any other inappropriate behavior.
Use discretion when choosing brands to represent and adhere to all FTC compliance regulations for sponsored content in order to maintain the specialty’s integrity.
Please note: All public education content shared on AAD social media ambassador’s social media accounts must be evidence-based or based on dermatologists’ common practices when no such scientific research exists. Recommendations must not contradict Academy messages.
